You can use a Dremel tool and grind down one side of the shaft to create a flat side. These will work perfectly in Williams games such as ES and RS. I'm not sure how hard it would be to make these divots as I've never tried. The weights will never tighten to the shafts tight enough without these divots. The biggest issue when installing it in a Stern game is that the motor mounting holes (bored directly into the motor casing) do not line up with the Stern mounting bracket holes.Ī compatibility issue with both Williams and Stern is the missing divots in the 2 shafts for mounting the weights. It appears to be pretty much the exact motor Williams used in their shaker motor assemblies. I purchased one of these motors a couple of months back to check it out. Probably, the trickest part would be just slipping on and locktiting the old cog to the new motor's shaft.Įbay.com link: PWM 12V 40V DC Electric Pump Motor Speed Controller Stepless 10 100 10AĮbay.com link: 12V 24V 3A DC Motor Speed Control PWM HHO RC ControllerĮbay.com link: Adjustable Regulator Pulse Width PWM DC Motor Speed Controller Switch 6V 28V 3A You found the exact copy but with a pwm board, you could easily use "non-pinball" motors and not even have to find an exact copy I would guess for most applications.

I'll probably put in one of those if I ever sell the machine so it doesn't look so ghetto. They sell boards on ebay for $5 dollars that provide variable speed control for dc motors. The diodes where the only thing I had on hand that would do the job.

I ended up doing the ghetto thing of soldering like 6 3A diodes in series to step the voltage down to speed control the motor to match how fast it should be based on the papa videos. My potentiometer wasn't big enough to use in parallel for voltage control (current control for torque, voltage control for speed) and putting it in series for current control does work but if you torque control the motor, it speeds up and slows down depending on the load. It was about twice as fast as the original So, I adjusted the speed of the motor by adjusting the voltage to the motor. Someone found a RadioShack 18v motor that fits but the speed wasn't correct. You still need your bracket, power supply, weights etc but the motor for ten bucks is a no brainer! Just though I would pass this along to anyone who needs one of the old Williams shaker motors. When I receive it I will verify that it is identical and works fine but I can see no reason why it would not. Marcos wants about 30 bucks just for the brushes. (I feel like a true bonehead for not looking at the next hit under the site I ordered from last night, but I was tired and couldn't fathom finding it cheaper.) Today I am looking it up again to make sure my eyes were not fooling me and I found the same motor on another site for $5.00! They will ship USPS for 5 bucks so that would be TEN DOLLARS DELIVERED TO YOUR DOOR! Had to get my order over 10 dollars so I added a battery holder for few cents and my total came to around 20 bucks shipped. It was about 2 in the morning and I was beyond exhausted and frustrated from working on my Pin so I ordered that puppy and went to sleep. The identical motor for $9.95! (Follow me here because it gets better, not for me, but at least for the next guylooking for a shaker motor.) Now, I search that manufacturer name and part number and find this: So I look at the motor and it clearly has the manufacturer and model number stamped on the Brush end: So "cheaper way" basically meant I needed to find the same part for less or a set of brushes AND an armature to rebuild the motor. Mind you, I am the type of guy that believes strongly in doing things the RIGHT way, but I am also a pretty frugal bastard. I wasn't very surprised since everything about this hobby seems to rape my wallet, but I wanted to find a cheaper way.

I noticed tha armatures had a deep burnt spot on it as well so I might as well order a new motor. I took the motor out because it was non functioning and went to checking the brushes. I am not selling this, but I wanted to give a heads up on what I discovered while working on my Earthshaker last night.
